About Us

Who Are We?

About Us.1We are a family run business started by these two labrador retrievers (Jack and Riley.) The problem with labradors you see is that the president of the company is rather fond of them.  And they are rather fond of water.

This presented a problem when the owner went sailing.  The dogs love to be on the water, around the water, and in the water.  Just like their master.

About Us.2Getting them into the water is easy.  Pick up the nearest object on the boat and throw it into the water.  As you can see they gingerly enter into the water.  Anything up to about 6 feet off the water is just fine with these guys.  However getting them back in the boat was a different story.  It required someone constantly standing at the back of the boat and lifting them up by the scruff of their neck.  Not only did Jack and Riley tire of this constant tugging, but the unfortunate individual responsible for doing the lifting ended up sore (100 lb. dogs) and soaking wet.  There had to be a better way.

About Us.3This brought about the invention of the first "Stair Platform".  It was rough and quickly made, didn't fold, and doesn't have the textured plastic treads.  We took off the telescoping ladder and replaced it with our invention.  It was exactly what was needed.  The dogs could climb into and out of the water easily.

After installing the platform, we found a few interesting things.  First, if it is so easy for dogs to get in and out of the water.  Why not humans!  Trying it ourselves we found that is was a far superior way to get into and out of the water.  We could sit or stand on it and ascend or descend the stairs just as easily as they could.

About Us.4Second, we noticed that the dogs could also sit or stand on the platform while in the water and just take a rest. Made us think again.  Wow, every time we go snorkeling or diving....we used to tread water while adjusting weights, masks, regulators, etc.  Why not sit on the platform to make all these adjustments before heading in?  It worked like magic.  And when we returned...no more clambering up the ladder with a bunch of gear and fins still attached to our various limbs.  Just sit on the platform.  Take off the gear.  Hand it up to the transom or someone.  Then walk up the stairs completely unencumbered to get out.  Spectacular!

About Us.5Thus, we took all of these ideas and translated it into a number of polished, functional, versatile, high quality boarding ladders that greatly outperform all existing boarding ladder designs!  All starting from this first, rough, but functional solution to a simple problem.
